My job includes many perks, but probably the best one is getting to write off trips to Italy because of trade shows and, ahem, research. For the next few days I’m going to share some of my favorite photos from Cersaie, Marmomacc, and the various cities we visited. I’ll offer my unsolicited commentary, and I’d love your feedback.
First up is Patricia Urquiola‘s incredible new product for Budri. As you can see, it’s called Marblelace, and it was a successful attempt to make stone appear light-weight. Entire walls and jalousie screens can be fabricated from the interlocking components.

Be still my heart! Has anyone else encountered a new product and thought, “Damn, I wish I’d designed this”? This booth deservedly won best-in-show at Marmomacc in Verona. For photos of another impressive project, check out their work on the Abu Dabhi mosque via their website. Just amazing.

No kidding, Patricia Urquiola is the bomb! I was completely blown away.
