#Mosaic Monday: Halloween!

In the spirit of Halloween, here’s an ancient mosaic from The Pompeian Collection of the Archaeological Museum of Naples.

Memento Mori , en: National Archaeological Museum of Naples , Italy (cat. no. 109982) – Mosaic (47 cm x 41) found at Pompeii (I, 5, 2) represents the wheel of fortune, as it turns, can make the rich (symbolized by the purple cloth on the left) poor, and poor (symbolized by the goat skin on the right) is rich, but everything is very uncertain, death is lurking in every moment, and life is suspended for a thread when the thread breaks, the soul (symbolized by the butterfly) will fly away. They will all be equal.
