Instant Gratification…Studio Line from New Ravenna

Or, you asked for it…more Ready-to-Ship products!

Statuary Carrara Mini-Versailles

There are about twenty-five blog posts I want to write, many of them about my Abu Dhabi trip, but they’ll just have to wait a minute while I take care of some business. Here goes:

While visiting and interviewing New Ravenna customers about six months ago, a showroom manager’s words (thank you John, at Tile Showcase in Watertown, Massachusetts) summed up a common theme and still ring in my ears: “People are no longer willing to wait for their tile. They aren’t planning ahead as well as they used to. They want less expensive product, and they want it in two or three days, not weeks”.

Let me tell you–I can be a little dense sometimes (my mother’s high school nickname was “Oblivia”), but this advice was as clear as the proverbial bell. New Ravenna needed an expanded ready-to-ship line, and we needed it like yesterday.

Check out our new base and Tatami field...

Always a winner, our polished Cloud Nine Hex goes with everything!

Secondarily, we needed to speed up our “normal” production lead times for all our made-to-order products (we’ve since done that–two to three weeks for all mosaic orders, two to four for water jet).

Here we have a Ming Hex floor, Statuary Carrara base, Tatami on the wall.

So we distilled and schemed and debated and finally we are now launching what we officially refer to as our “Studio Line”–but in-house we are always calling it “Garanimals” since the goal is for pretty much everything to go with everything else. It’s all imported (about half the cost) but designed by us, and includes stone moldings, borders and stone wall tile (3″ x 6″ bricks, etc.) in addition to more flooring options and the penny rounds and hexes we’ve sold for years.

Good ole stone penny rounds--not just for the floor--nice in a kitchen backsplash too.

Soup to nuts, floor to ceiling. It is oriented around the two colors that Shelley Tile in New York says are 85% of her business–white and beige. We added a bit of light gray and Ming green and voila, what’s not to like?

Here's a field we call Del Greco in Statuary Carrara, for floors or walls.

Borders--two versions of a subtle Acanthus design, and two new waterjet designs.

Oh, and we stock it, so it ships in 24 hours. We just dispatched the first official concept boards, and showrooms should be receiving them any day. Our photos give you a taste of what is now available, at a showroom near you.

P.S. These collections are always works in progress. If you think we’ve left out something obvious, we’d love to hear your suggestions.
