These “mosaics” are created from 3,640,000 colored wooden eggs by Ukranian artist Oksana Mas called “Post v.s Proto Renaissance” for the Venice Biennale which runs from June 4 till November 27, 2011. The iconographic reference is the work of the Van Eyck brothers, proto-Renaissance artists who painted “The gardens of paradise,” which can be seen on an altar in the Flemish city of Ghent.
