Sara Baldwin, creative director, founder New Ravenna Mosaics
Sara Baldwin studied fine arts at the University of Pennsylvania, where she took her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and trained rigorously as a fine arts painter. It was there that she made her first mosaic design, a mural of Eve in the Garden of Eden. Returning to the Eastern Shore in 1990, she launched New Ravenna Mosaics. New Ravenna now spans three city blocks in historic Exmore, Virginia, employs more than 100 people – and leads the nation in designing and manufacturing custom mosaics in stone and glass, materials imported from across Eurasia and the Americas. She later founded Sara Baldwin Design, which offers boutique collections of mosaics. Her work graces thousands of distinguished homes around the world, as well as some of the world’s finest hotels, restaurants, casinos, and historic buildings. New Ravenna supplies varied collections to companies as diverse as Ann Sacks, Waterworks, Walker Zanger, Kohler, Stone Source and in 2012 Marble Systems.
