Charlotte (“Lotty”) Bunbury creates hand-painted designs that are then printed onto silk charmeuse or silk chiffon and fashioned into dreamy kaftans, kimonos, camisoles, blouses, triangle tops, and sarongs. Many of her designs are influenced by the flora and fauna of what Lotty describes as the “paradise island” of Mustique. What distinguishes the Lotty B collection from everyday resort wear is the painstaking process by which they are crafted, from the transfer of patterns to silk, to the hand-sewn edging. The Lotty B collection is sold in select boutiques in the United States, Caribbean, England, and France.
Lotty is the fourth of ten children and spent her early years traveling the globe and living in countries as varied as Ghana, Malawi, Cyprus, and Malaysia. She began her formal art education at the Chelsea Arts School, studying mural painting and stained glass, among other art forms.
Lotty and Sara met on Mustique and immediately recognized one another as kindred spirits; they share a keen eye for design and a zest for life. In 2007, Sara invited Lotty to collaborate with her for her still-evolving Synergy collection. The result is the stunning Leopard panel shown here
